Terrible Delivery Service, Illegally Charged Fees

On Wednesday, September 14,2022 I placed an order on Kroger for a total of five items. The combined total of these items was $76.60 not including a $3.83 tip that would be contingent on getting at least a minimal level of service (the items actually arriving at my house).

While I waited around an hour for any sign of life from the order, I received a notification that the shopper had begun. Shortly after, I received two separate notifications letting me know an item will be refunded due to it not being in stock. I DID specify that they could pick an alternative for the item as it's real easy to find a replacement cheese for a mild cheddar, but the shopper decided they didn't want to do that. In a little bit, I received the notification that the shopper was done and that it would be delivered.

Generally, the process involves me receiving a notification that the delivery driver has left the store, and another letting me know they are approaching. Once I received the notification the delivery driver has left the store, I headed to the living room to greet them. They never arrived. After around 20 minutes, I received a notification that my order had been delivered. It had, in fact, not been delivered.

Upon checking my order, I noticed there were two glaring issues here:

1) The order it was showing was clearly NOT my keto-friendly order, but in fact a lot of items that were not only non-keto, but seemed to be for children.
2) My $76.60 order turned into $197.14. I clearly never agreed to this.

I contacted Kroger immediately. Across four phone calls and two attempts to resolve this with a chat agent, I finally got someone who could at least admit that something was wrong with the order. They never did admit fault and at some point even tried to assume I was lying about all of this. Regardless, they let me know they would send a request to finance to refund me my order.

Shortly after this, I received an email notification. This email outlined that I could receive the refund for the order in 7-10 business days. Having been in the other end of this situation, I know their finance department could've just voided out the charge and it wouldn't have actually hit my account. It held as an approximately $80 hold on the account for a few days, and hit the account as the full $197.14 I did not consent to sending.

I've tried to reach out to get this resolved faster, but have had no response from Kroger or any of their customer service representatives. I've also been blatantly hung up on once they see my phone number. It's clear they don't want to make good on their promises, even when someone is paying them extra for an annual subscription.

0 out of 10 won’t recommend.

On august 2, 2022 I did an online Kroger pickup. That evening I tried to cook only to see the pepperonis had mold and Burt black stuff on it. So I go to open some egg rolls only to see they were completely covered in crystals. I called my local Kroger and told them I’d bring the food back the next day being that was two to many items I opened and did not match Kroger slogan “fresh produce”. My total was $148.82. I took ALL the food back to my local Kroger august 3, 2022 and was told by the store to contact Kroger customer service for my refund. I contact them august 4,2022 and was told it will be 7-10 business days. Well I’ve spoken with Emily, Iya, Jessica, Vanessa (the rudest of them all), Reneal and countless of other representatives. Only to be told on my 8th business day of waiting that I had to wait 30 business days. I received two credits that did not come close to $148. Well today is my 30th business day and I have yet to receive my refund. I’ve called at least three times a week and once a week they tell me “I’m very sorry but we have to re submit your refund and you have to wait an additional 30 days”. Kroger is an absolute joke at this point. I will never shop here again neither will I suggest others to do so. The “fresh produce “ they have out for the public to purchase is NEVER fresh. On top of all of this they keep lying saying “oh your funds will be available tomorrow” just to get me off the phone. When the next day come no funds still. They are pathetic and sad.

I just want to thank "Surge" because he is always so nice and professional. Every time I have ever had to call for information he always provides excellent and honest answers. He is also very skilled at giving shots and always treats customers with kindness and respect. I have recently moved from NLR to Little Rock but I won't be changing my pharmacy because Surge is just so good and always willing to go above and beyond his duty. He has an excellent telephone voice too. Kroger is very lucky to have him!

Has gone down hill!

Has gone down hill!
Display prices are not always in the system.
The website is a pain to deal with. Takes a long time or isn't loading.
I tried to order Kroger delivery. No matter what day and time I tried to order, it said my order couldn't be processed. Basically the service is non existent!

Terrrible terrrible terrible

I have ordered from Pick N Save delivery many times. I recently ordered and it now states that it was being handled by Kroger - not instacart. I got a text stating my order had been delivered - but no groceries were at my door. I called customer service, they could not locate my delivery, just that it had been delivered. I was on hold for 45 minutes, a rep finally said they would issue me a refund. While I was still waiting, a neighbor came to my door and ask if I had ordered grocery delivery? They had been delivered several houses down to her. She told the driver that she did not order and he had the wrong house. He didn't confirm the address, just dropped the groceries on her front stoop and said to use them or throw them away - he didn't care. My neighbor and I carried the groceries to my home - they had now been sitting outside for over an hour in the heat. I called back today to inquire about my refund and told them about my experience. They said that now that I indeed had gotten my groceries - even if much of them were no good due to the heat - I was not eligible for a refund. Not even for the delivery fee.

Horrible first experience with Kroger delivery service

I have my elderly, ailing mother set up with a Kroger delivery account attached to my credit card. Today's first order totaled $312.52. She received a message that the delivery had been delivered to the front porch. She went to get it and it wasn't there. She calls the local store in The Woodlands and the manager 1) is rude, 2) doesn't care - says it's Instacart's fault. She calls Kroger 800 # and waits forever to talk with someone. It's not resolved. Finally, four hours after the delivery, she finds the order in the BACKYARD at the back gate on the driveway! Of the $312.52, $115.70 in cold and frozen foods were ruined sitting in the 90-degree sun on the driveway! I call the local store 5X and no one ever answers the phone. As I type this, I have now been on hold with the Kroger 800# for 30 minutes. Worst customer service ever! If someone is ordering through the KROGER.com website, you'd expect Kroger to fix the issue. But everyone wants to pass the buck. If this doesn't get resolved, I will go to my own credit card and have the order backed off. I will NEVER set foot in a Kroger again. HEB would have fixed this problem immediately.

Excellent customer service skills

I am 79 years old. Scott from the Eldon Mo (Gerbes) customer service, spent a lot of time helping me to register for digital coupons. There were several problems but Scott was very patient with me and didn't become frustrated with my inability to register. He was so nice and spent some good time helping me. He has excellent customer service skills.

Even Worse

I have reported Kroger for poor customer treatment previously and now shop elsewhere. However, I stopped in last week on a time crunch, and the service is worse than ever. There were NO CARTS available. Zero. A kind shopper gave me his on the way out. Shelves were not well stocked. I was literally nagged again to sign up for one of their cards (you don't need a card if their prices are competitive), and when I asked about the carts, the person *wearing a vest* claimed not to work for Kroger and sassed me on my way out! And they did not have a full staff in the store—the one that used to be a bit better than the other I reviewed. And this was my last stop-by. Sad really. It used to be a fine place for many years with great management and helpful staff. The title says it: back to back rudeness, excuses for poor management, failure to adequately staff checkouts and stock shelves etc. More excuses and failure to assist. I suspect this long known institution is going out of business. I even wrote the home office: they were "sorry." I am with a different store today and am treated with respect in a large and well-stocked business. So long Kroger.

Kroger Marion Illinois

Kroger Marion Illinois, Saturday late afternoon, 1 checker working and no bagger. Young lady should have been getting double time pay the way she was working. must have hired some half wit manager from Walmart to run the place. Use to be one of the best stores around. Sad

Kroger's Toledo is ripping customers…

Kroger's Toledo is ripping customers off by price gouging on specific items. I can buy the same size box of Post Raisin Nut Bran cereal $2.10 cheaper at Walmart and Ruffle Party size chips a $1.00 a bag cheaper. I could list many more items.

Why can't I click the arrow to toggle months to request off in e-schedule? All I can see is the current month. It works on store computer but not home

Answer This Question

Q:

A lot of these posts seem like customers that are pissed at the company and would rather vent than actually do any thing about it.

A:

People are scared and frustrated. They have little control anymore and I believe that causes them to hit out. My Gran would say they are "showing themselves." All stores like Kroger have a supply & replenishment program in place and the pandemic set all of them off track. It's not the store's, worker's or even our fault. People that rant & rage at open businesses are irrationally biting the hands that are trying to help them. They need to take a soul-searching look at who they have become. Every person working in places where anyone can enter is so much braver than the rest of us non- healthcare workers. I thank the store & restaurant workers everytime I am out. They are keeping the country going. They are exposing themselves and providing critical services for our country. They are aware of what would happen if all the stores and businesses closed.

Answer This Question

Q:

How easy is it to get a hold of customer service at Kroger?

A:

Lines are busy and it takes patience, but I've found lots of customer service in-store. Once again, the online aspect has exponentially mushroomed because of the pandemic. Replenishment of supply demands is catching up. We need to give them a grace period to catch up on the personal service responses too. If you really have a serious problem, go discuss it at a distance of 5 feet away. They will help, just be nice!

by Leta Miles - April 17, 2020

A:

They ignore complaints. Even when it involves sexual harrassment.
